 The Skinny: Small business owners who effectively use social networking are able to promote their businesses in powerful ways. A Facebook business page is one of the best ways to connect with your customers and build a following for your company.

 Here are The First 5 Must-Knows for Optimizing Your Business’s Facebook Page

#1 Contact Information

This might seem like an obvious observation, but I can’t tell you how many accounts I look at that don’t have their correct contact information posted front and center on their page! You need to post your phone number, address, website, and hours, etc. Your goal should be to make it so easy for someone to call you right from their phone because your contact information is present everywhere you are! Having a great statement summarizing what you do is also helpful. This shows up underneath your contact info. To take it a step further, consider creating a cover photo image that contains this same information. The most predominant images on your page should display your contact information. 

#2 Drive Traffic To Your Website

By posting links to your website, you can help increase online visits. If you’re a visual person like I am, here’s something you might find easy to remember. Imagine that SEO is a spider. The spider goes out and finds all the food it wants and brings it back to it’s web. In terms of your SEO rankings, the food is the new and relevant information posted from the social media platforms that give you higher rankings. The food becomes the focal point of the spider’s web, making it’s supply larger and more fulfilling. In human terms… SEO is a collection of new information that, when gathered, altogether gives you a higher ranking on Google and other search engines. What’s the takeaway point here? No, don’t go look for spiders, but do always link your Facebook posts to your website. Also mention your website on your blogs, your tips, your testimonials, etc. to drive traffic to your website.

#3 Master The  Cohesive Brand

You hear it all the time. Stick to your brand. What are we really talking about here? We’re not only talking about your colors anymore- it’s much more interesting than that! Cohesive branding ensures consistency on all of the platforms you use so that your brand is recognizable without questions. This means your Facebook mimics what you’ll see on your website. Your Instagram posts read like your Twitter posts- get it? Nowadays, branding your business involves selecting fonts, graphics, tag lines, illustrations, colors, and tone, and then keeping these characteristics at the forefront of everything you put out there when talking about your business. Work smarter, not harder, remember! This strategy makes it easy for your community to recognize your work!

Social connections and genuine communication are integral parts of social media, and Facebook gives you an opportunity to attach a face, name, and personality to your brand. While your Facebook page may represent your company, it also allows you to show the human side of your business through one-on-one conversations, personal tidbits, and nonbusiness interaction.

Starting a Facebook page for your business is probably the most thorough outlet to gather your customers, fans, and prospects to provide reviews, share opinions, voice concerns, and offer feedback. You can build a community on your Facebook page in a number of ways, including:

Posting useful, relevant, and interesting links- post with purpose, because content is king!

Asking your audience to participate with their comments

Organizing contests and promotions

Providing a place to leave reviews and other feedback

Offering incentives for activity on the page
