Transparency alert- this is my first blog… ever! So go easy on me, would ya!  I am one of two Queen Bees at 1Social Buzz. To get to this boss status, I had to make a huge decision on a career change in the middle of what will probably be a once in a lifetime pandemic called… COVID-19! Who does that, right?! In the middle of chaos what most people crave most is stability and comfort. It took me a while to figure it out, but GLOW- Getters do that! A GLOW- Getter is the 1Social Buzz version of a go-getter with some Queen Bee sass- because we do everything with some extra Buzz! 

Boss moves like that are not easy and certainly are not done without proper planning and soul searching. I mean, have you ever really stopped to examine who you want to be in this busy game we call life? I certainly didn’t, until of course, I did! And what I discovered was that I wanted so much more than what I was getting out of my career and my life! I wanted to LIVE MY BEST LIFE and that meant I had to make some changes to achieve the status I wanted in my career. It wasn’t easy, but I glowed through it and I am so glad I did because- I found FREEDOM to live my best life without regret!

I’ll be super upfront about this. The real question I want you to ask yourself is- do you know how to be a GLOW- Getter throughout any situation you’re facing in life? What a loaded question, right? Well, in case you haven’t ever let your mind explore this question, I’ve got 4 GLOW- Getter tips to help you get your GLOW on in any situation:

Check Your Priorities:

This is a hard one! A priority is the concern, interest or desire that comes before all others. You can have many priorities in your life. Having a top priority to do a deep dive on doesn’t mean that other priorities aren’t important, but it does mean that it’s the one worth glow- checkin’ right now! If you’re a coach, your priority is your team winning championships. If you’re a teacher, your priority is your students’ education. If you’re a mom, your priority is your kid’s safety. Whatever your priority is right now, are you okay with just being okay at _________? Because I believe you can be better than just okay! But don’t take my word for it- take yours! If you pour your heart and soul into something and still feel like something is missing, that there’s so much more out there for you in regards to ________, it might be time for change. Have those hard conversations with yourself. If it’s a priority, it’s most definitely worth a little GLOW- Getter soul searching! 

Talk It Out:

Like, literally talk about it! Once you’ve determined that change is on the horizon, grab your BFF, your spouse, your mom, whoever knows you best and TALK. IT. OUT! Tell this person that you want to be a GLOW- Getter and that you’d like their support. Run your situation by them for some feedback. Now, I would be weary about talking to Negative Nancy- you do need to talk with someone who appreciates the mindset of change or your ideas might get shot down quickly. Another GLOW- Getter secret is to make yourself a Pro’s and Con’s list… a To Glow Or Not To Glow List!

Look For Opportunities:

Sometimes you have to sniff out a good thing! You know, make things happen! After you’ve examined your priorities and had a real talk with yourself first and then a confidant, look for opportunities to improve. For me, my change came from feeling like there was more for me in my career. I wasn’t okay with just being a great employee anymore. I felt a burning desire to be more- to BE A BOSS! Through listening, watching and asking tons of questions, I found myself looking down the road of change for the opportunity to become a co-owner of a growing social media company with a person whom I trusted and admired. I let my mind explore the what if’s around leaving behind a secure job I loved to become a partner in an industry I wasn’t an expert in…yet! For me, I saw opportunity staring back at me because at that moment, finding fulfillment in my career became a priority that required some change. Being good at something was no longer good enough for me- I wanted to LIVE MY BEST LIFE! If this is you, look for opportunities to be better and go get it! 

Know Thyself:

Knowing thyself is really about having a healthy “gut instinct”. Intuition is the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. I had a fair amount of faith in myself that if I actually made a change with my career, that I would be good at whatever was new to me, because I have trusted my gut enough times to rely on feelings without reason.  You have to follow your gut. If it feels right, it probably is right- for you. If it feels wrong… absolutely listen to your gut! The feeling that something is right for you doesn’t mean it will be easy for you. My career change in the middle of a pandemic happened to be one of the hardest decisions of my life. With healthy instinct- you just know things! Having intuition also doesn’t mean there won’t be other things to consider- like timing, logistics, consequences, etc. –  but it does mean it’s okay to move forward in your thinking process. Trusting your intuition is the ultimate act of trusting yourself, or ahem, knowing thyself! Knowing thyself is GLOWING in thyself! 

If you’re still with me, thank you! For me personally, after I do the steps above and decide it’s worth it to move forward in my thinking process,  I bury myself in prayer when I feel the desire for change. I pray for obvious and distinct barriers to stand in front of me if ________ is not meant to be. That doesn’t work for everyone, but it works for me. The final step to all this is to bask in your newfound GLOW-Getter mentality and start LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE!
